Modern sculpture in Indonesia began to emerge around the time of independence, in the 1940s. Despite the fact that the archipelago's ancient and traditional people were already familiar with statues as ritual objects. During the colonial period, modern sculpture, like painting, began to gain recognition in Indonesia. Sculpture became a medium for the artist's personal expression, rather than just a ritual medium. Their works have marked advancements and opened up new possibilities in the evolution of modern Indonesian sculpture. Their distinct work also contributes to our collective social narrative and memory. This is because modern sculpture, particularly public and monumental sculpture, continues to be a communal symbol.
The Pusaka Seni Rupa (Sculptor) series features works by nine sculptors, namely:

This second edition of Pusaka Seni Rupa was produced in 2020, during the pandemic. It was not printed, but rather distributed digitally and is available for download from Google Books.
